We all know the dry statistics related to the growing problem of obesity and obesity-related health issues. But behind those numbers live real people, each with a heart, a soul, and a story. One of those stories is yours.
Perhaps you are unwilling to go through one more cycle of yo-yo dieting, or you know in your heart that simple dieting does not lead to a long-term healthy lifestyle. You may dread the daunting task of truly changing your relationships with health and food, or navigating the difficult waters of creating that change amidst the pressures of family, work, and kids. You may even feel desperate to lose that stubborn weight, but also feel sad about the prospect of giving up foods you have grown to love.
Our bodies and our unconscious minds stubbornly resist sustained weight loss. Chronic stress motivates many to overeat. Our genetics presume food is scarce, while in reality it is not only plentiful and inexpensive but has been designed to pack in a lot of calories. We eat out more and more and portion sizes become larger and larger. Our language is full of encouragement: “Clean plate club!” “Other people are going hungry!” “You don’t want seconds?”
Our approach adds an emotional and intellectual dimension to whatever diet and exercise program you choose to pursue. We reframe the concept of being “on a diet” to one of “having a diet,” and approach the program as one of incremental integration in place of sudden immersion.
The world is full of different diet and exercise programs, both formal and informal. There are scads of exercise regimens: self-directed, personal trainers, and various brand name programs. The world doesn’t need another diet or exercise plan; we need to add the mental dimension that is missing. We offer direction and support in the form of group meetings, personal counseling, and coaching. All our plans combine education with individualized support. We help you find the right strategies for you, and integrate them into your life. Plan components you can choose from include:
